How Every Season Can Dress For Spring

If pastels make your skin tone look more dead than alive, shopping in the spring can be tricky 🫠

Take this DM I got the other day…

As a Warm Autumn, I feel her pain. Am I doomed to sacrifice my glow to lavender and hot pink in order to dress for spring?

When I met the founder of Kettlewell for ice cream in an NYC cafe, she explained that this pain point drove her to start her color-expansive clothing line.

As a Spring, she had a hard time finding clothes in her colors in the cooler months, so, like an icon, she made her own company to do just that.

Ok, I thought, I’ll bite.

She sent me some Autumn-coded pieces to play around with, and the wow factor of wearing my EXACT best colors was palpable.

You get so used to settling for the available, “close enough” colors that seeing yourself in shades that were made for you makes you do a double take. At Kettlewell, they’ve been doing “shop by season” for a whileeee.

Here are a few of the looks I created for some styling ideas.

How I dress for Spring as an Autumn Palette…

I’m a lover of all things bold, and it was nice to see the extra oomph a colorful layering tee added, making even simple outfits even more intriguing.

I’m also here for a moto jacket for Spring; it can go over a dress, works great with the wide-leg pants that are hot right now, and adds some warmth to lighter-weight spring fabrics during the early transitional months. It’s a nice extra option so you don’t end up wearing a jean jacket every day of April. Kettlewell has a lightweight moto jacket in several color ways, it’s cozy and lightweight enough to feel like a light sweater, and this orangey color is a nice nod to spring.

How Autumns can dress for Spring

How Winters can dress for Spring

Winter palettes, your yellows, mid-tone greens, sky blues, and pinks can channel the happy vibes of spring, especially when paired with a white denim jacket, or white bottoms. A deep blue denim jacket also makes a nice neutral base, in place of some of the darker grays and blacks of your palette. Accessorizing with a brighter belt or scarf can really switch an outfit from feeling wintery to springy, as well.
